New cousins and stuff

So many things have been happening and I've been too lazy to write them down. So I'm making up for it now:

First and most important: We have a neice!!! her name is Anna Laura and from the pictures I've seen she's beautiful. Her mom and dad are doing fine. Since, until Sunday, J and I had only nephews, we are excited about being uncle and aunt to a neice. I adore the boys, don't get me wrong, but it will be nice I think for Lena to have a female family member close to her age.

This last weekend we hosted some out of town friends. Matt and Jenn came to visit from Placerville. We had a wonderful weekend! For one thing, Matt and Jenn are a blast (Matt rendered a Santa Monica busker speechless, which takes some real talent) and for another, we lined up babysitting for Lena, so we got to be real adults for two whole days!

The weekend before, we went to the bug faire at the Museum of Natural History with my parents and Anthony. Anthony, Jason and my dad had fun looking at butterflies and learning about good places around us to catch them. Lena, my mom and I hung out in the discovery area for kids. Lena loved being allowed to touch all the shells and fossils. She had her picture taken by a museum photographer and may be in a brochure.

That's really about all. I have my ultrasound next week and find out the babys' gender. If it's a boy, I see many many baby girl clothes in Anna's future.

Ode to Mommy Friends

Let me just state for the record: I have the coolest friends. I also have a cold, which, while not the point of this particular post, still comes into play. So, this cold has made me even more tired and cranky than before, if that is possible. I sent an email telling my mommy friends that I had to miss park day today because of this cold. I got two emails back offering help with Helena, one from Shari and one from Deb. I was so tired today I actually took advantage of one of the offers. Deb, who will heretofore be known as Saint Deborah the child wrangler, took Lena for about 3 hours today so I could sleep, and then go to the store to buy some much needed groceries. Deb has two beautiful, fun daughters whom Lena adores. So, both she (Lena) and I had a nice day. Lena got to chase a dog and take a bath (two of her favorite things) and I got to sleep. (my favorite thing) So Deb, if you read this, thank you thank you thank you! You rock!

Frozen Burritos

Hi, my name is Lysa and I'm a frozen burrito-aholic. There seems to be no end to my frozen burrito consumption. I have been eating almost nothing but Posada frozen burritos for 3 days. You know, the kind you can get at Costco for like a buck fifty. (not really, but I like to tell myself that my burrito consumption is economical) I know there's a pregnant lady loophole in the weight watching universe, but I think this may be streching the boundaries. For one thing, do frozen burritos count as food? I know there's a whole list of ingredients, but I mostly scan it to make sure there are no beans hidden in there. I don't actually know what most of the ingredients are. They don't SOUND like food. I'm fairly sure modified food starch and guar gum are not anywhere on the food pyramid.

I have to go an try to eat something healthy now. must. not. open. freezer......

Nothing really to say

I have now seen Toy Story and Toy Story 2 about 25 times each. I'm starting to think, however, that I watch much more of these movies than Lena. I used to have mostly music playing for her (she likes Sleater-Kinney, I'm so proud), which she would dance to. But since about February, when unbeknownst to me I began my first trimester, I've been too tired to run around with her. Movies seemed to keep her attention, so began the lazy parenting portion of the Lysa and Lena show. Now though, she's gone back to running around and once in a while comes back to see what Woody and Buzz are up to. Mostly she plays with her plastic kitchenette in her bedroom.

There is really no reason I'm telling you this. It's just the most interesting thing I have to say at present, which should tell you something.
